Everyday Democracy
Everyday Democracy was a research project exploring how young people encounter, discuss and engage with politics and societal issues in their everyday digital lives, and what role news media plays (or not) in these situations. The project focused on 16–24-year-olds whose civic engagement largely takes place outside formal structures and institutions, particularly in social media, gaming communities and related digital spaces. Futures Forum: Election Edition
Ahead of the Swedish 2026 election, IN/LAB wanted to focus our discussion format, Futures Forum, on how young people view news coverage of politics. Together with journalists and high school students from Globala gymnasiet in Stockholm we talked about everything from what constitutes fair election coverage to the influence of social media creators on voting behaviour. Parlia was an experiment exploring how news media can create new ways for people to engage with societal and political issues and better understand perspectives different from their own. Daily Dose
Daily Dose was a concept test exploring a new, more manageable and engaging way for young people to consume news. The concept offered one editorially selected news story per day, accompanied by an explanation of why the story was chosen, opportunities to interact with the content, and a positive reward after engagement.
