IN/LAB existed to prototype news futures for current news outsiders. We used the term 'news outsiders' to highlight various groups not consuming and/or trusting editorial news today. Our focus was on outsiders rather than “avoiders”, as we believed there are many groups whose information needs and desires the news media has not paid sufficient attention to in the past. 
 

We were a small team – Agnes Stenbom (Founder/Head of Lab), Louise Barkenäs (Interim Head of Lab), Belenn Bekele (Program manager), Molly Grönlund Müller (Community Researcher) and Esam Touma (Content & community specialist) – with many skilled collaborators across geographies and ages. Our work was based on research, co-creation and experiments, where we tried to uncover user needs and meet them by exploring emerging technology. 

 

We started as a joint initiative between Schibsted and the Tinius Trust. ​
